How To: DIY diagram of tapping a Sugar Maple Tree
I want to do this next year….there HAS to be some sugar maples around our place somewhere….
i hope someone will correct me if i’m wrong, but you can tap other maples though you won’t get as much sap as a sugar maple is my understanding. we have done it with a large silver maple on our old property
Someone today was tellin me they’ve tapped birches in the past too. Obviously look up the numbers and make sure you don’t drain the skinny things, and there must be a different ratio and numbers for boiling it down/getting enough for any amount of syrup
